Many people feel that Palm's newest smartphone in their WebOS reinvention is simply priced too high and delivers too little when compared to the $50 more Pre on the same carrier. Yup, that's the Pixi. But, life's not all about comparisons is it? Most can live with the lack of WiFi, slower processor and smaller screen. For me at least, the problem is the price. $99 is a great deal for a Pre but, it's not so great of a deal for its feature lacking little brother. Which brings us to the race to the bottom. Alike many WebOS users, it seems many retailers like Wal-Mart, Amazon, Wirefly and others feel the same way: Wal-Mart releasing the Pixi on day 1 for around $30, while Amazon has been slowly pecking down the price for a little while now. Today though, the price has hit a new low, $22.99 on both Amazon and Wal-Mart. I believe this is where Sprint should have set the bar to begin with. They can sell more Pixis, which is great for Palm, Sprint would get new customers and some new WebOS users won't feel ripped off when they pick this baby up. It's a Win-Win-Win. So, let the race begin!
thank god some one said it!!!
i think 100 dollars, while a fair price, is too high solely based on it’s competition in that price range. regardless of the feature set compared to the Pre, between the two there is still a HUGE difference in which type of user will pick each one. the Pixi is GREAT for the messaging and Facebook crowd and the Pre is GREAT for the more serious user who will put to more use the PIM features and whatnot.
but at the 30 dollar pricepoint, between it’s features and looks, the Pixi is hard to beat. really it’s only competition at that point is the Droid Eris.
As a pre owner, I am quite tempted to buy a pixi. I love the form factor. However, while it is palm’s most recent phone, I feel like the pre is still the “flagship” webOS device, and I gotta have the best.
Great site and thanks for sharing.
Great article I’ve just added to my bookmark list.
I strictly recommend not to hold off until you get enough cash to order goods! You should just get the credit loans or sba loan and feel fine
