Like many of my fellow American Palm owners, I went out yesterday with my family to begin the shopping season. While I had clothes on the
top of my list, by the end of the day I found myself at our favorite big box retailer, Best Buy. However, by the time I got there all the good deals were gone so, I figured I would check out the Palm Pixi which I still hadn’t had a hands-on with. Now, right next to me was a person looking to upgrade their Blackberry Pearl on Sprint.
This person had narrowed their choice down to two phones, the Samsung Moment running Android and the Palm Pre, obviously running webOS. This customer was on the verge of going with Android when he caught a glimpse of my Pre. It was my Buffalo Bills (American Football team) theme that had caught his attention. He asked how I did it and I showed him Preware.
From there, I showed him all the cool things that Preware has allowed me to do. The two that he liked the most were the battery percentage in the status bar and the on-screen keyboard and associated themes. He thought that a semi-transparent keyboard was a really good idea. I told him how easy it was to add all these things and he was sold. Then, one of the Best Buy employees pulled out his Pre with even more patches and homebrew applications and said that he would install Preware today in the store if he bought the phone.
Let’s just say the sale was made…
So, thank you to the WebOS-internals team for bringing one more Pre user on board. I can’t thank you enough, and neither can Palm.
I did the same thing when i went with my gf to best buy….i was there talking to 2 best buy reps that had no clue about preware or the homebrew community…spoke to them for about half an hour about all the goodies….and they got sold!
I love it!!! I had to figure out all of that stuff myself, by going online & SEARCHING, but the Palm Pre is by FAR the most FUN phone I’ve ever owned (& I have owned treos, blackberrys AND an Iphone)
Terrific reports & Fine a site….
