The alpha version of Precorder just arrived to the Pre. It’s not available through Preware yet until it hits Beta status. You can find it in the webos-internals wiki which includes both the app and the service which makes it run. Well it’s not completely perfect but it does records at 30 FPS 480×320px resolution and it supports AAC, AMRNB, and MP3 audio encoding as well as MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264/AVC video encoding. It also supports mp4 and 3gp file output and also with the option to enable the camera’s flash while recording. Best part, the videos can be replayed in the Pre’s video player! First time you install it you have to hit record and then stop recording, small bug that doesn’t record on the first try. Then second time it does its job. You still can’t see what your recording but hopefully with future updates from Zsoc, rwhitby, and Jason Robitaille, we’ll be able to preview what we record soon. But for now it works for what we have now. It has an amazing, almost HD quality and the files get saved onto the Pre’s usb media. Best way to play them is by going to your Videos application and selecting them. You can’t delete them from there unless you have the Swipe to delete video patch which is also available through Preware. Or you can also view them through Internalz which I use
