Hey guys and gals, first time posting here and hope its worth while!
As the title says it, I had to doctor my Pre for the first time in maybe a month due to issue from the messaging plugins I was trying to install on my Pre. I'm guessing when you update to a new OS (1.3.1) and you uninstall the old messaging plugin and install the new one that came out 1.2.1 things didn't go so well. I would be getting empty bars no matter how many times I uninstall-ed the messaging plugins. Other people had success that had clean pre's meaning that they doctored them before going to the 1.3.1 update just to have a fresh pre. I was thinking about doctoring my pre but didn't really feel like doctoring to 1.2.1 and having to update to 1.3.1, too much time wasted. I'd rather wait for 1.3.1 to come out, but when will it come out?
Last time it took almost if i remember 3 weeks to come out, someone correct me if i'm wrong. Anyways, I didn't want to go through the hassle, but tonight is what made me change my mind. I wanted to take a picture of my gf with her new pre still mesmerized with it since she got hers couple days ago. Funny thing is, the app didn't open, i even restart the phone and still same problem. Good thing I had my laptop with me to fire up the 1.2.1 doctor and after 30-45 minutes I was signing into my Palm Profile. Finally restarting my pre and notice a text message from my mom but it was her cell phone number instead of her name. I went into my contacts and will you look at that, I only had two numbers and they were Sprint numbers. I was like what!?
So, I called Palm and they told me it might be a problem with their servers and to try a partial reset and see if it works. After the partial reset, still same results, no contacts. Called again and lucky me their offices were closed! So I get home and i decided to have a chat with them online, I get a Palm Rep and his favorite word is "Okay." He mainly told me that I had to update to 1.3.1 (which i couldn't when I tried to because I had the endless "Checking for Updates". He told me to try and reboot and try again. Anyways, somehow we got disconnected or maybe I closed it by accident, uhh well! Anyways right now, I'm already finally updating my pre to 1.3.1 and we'll see if this is try about my contacts coming back. I'll add more later if i can.

Update: Well this morning I tried to do another partial erase and still didnt get my contacts. I spoke to Palm again and they told me they're trying to fix the issue and that they'll call me when they have answers. I'm not crazy mad but i know many people that who have this issue which is actually affecting many users from Precentral.net have been complaining about it. I'ts been happening since couple weeks from now and supposedly palm is giving away free touchstones. If i don't get any response by Palm until tomorrow i'm calling again and demand an actual answer and maybe get myself maybe 2 touchstones! I'll add more as I find out what's going on Palm Users!
Palm is giving away free touchstones to people who contact them for help? Sorry I don’t understand what you mean.

thanks i dont think i really need it bc many ppl already r saying palm called them telling them they screwed them up so…yeah
hummm no offer was presented to me regarding the issue… oh well whatever. it is a little frustrating i did expect a little more from palm. guy i talked to seemed a little callus about all the different issues such as broken screen and loose slider i have faced.

no offer was presented to me either i called them again and they told me that palm engineers r still working the issue and that they’ll get back to me…lets c how tru this is

Perhaps we were too nice. might have to be an ass to get nice offers. but it wasnt worth the head ache to work myself up to be mad.

Ya I would do the same but i have all mine on my exchange as well i did it awhile back because i didnt trust palm or incase i got a phone that didnt use palm profile considering you cant export anything from it its useless if you ask me. so i can help not getting mad. not worth it since i have mine backed up
