Free My Tether Back to Life in 1.3.1

A follow up to our original tethering article also Some info for Donors towards the end.

So Aonic has now released a fix for the Free version of My Tether that allows for USB and Bluetooth tethering ONLY on WebOS 1.3.1. One note to keep in mind is that you may need to reboot your pre to restore its Internet after you are done tethering. If you happen to have Luna Manager installed you can simply just hit Restart Java. A solution for this little annoyance is still in the works. Patients is a virtue after all and now we can all practice it together.




To install the application/fix all you have to do is run this simple command (No need to worry about uninstalling My Tether the command will take care of everything for you) with linux access which you can gain easily without "rooting" by using Terminal App or the command line option found under Tools in WebOS Quick Install v2.9+.

Terminal App: Orange + . [period] will make the | line.

WebOS Quick Install: To access Command Line you need to click on Tools>Command Line

1. Get WebOSQuickInstall here: WebOS Quick Install v2.9

2. Run WebOSQuickInstall with your phone in developer mode and connected to your usb port.

3. Click on Tools>LinuxCommandline

4. Type this in and hit enter:



wget -qO- http://vz.aonic.net/pre/my.tether.install | /bin/sh


^^That installs MyTether onto your phone.


5. Install drivers onto your computer (USB tethering only) using these directions: Precentral Forum or more detailed at webos-internals.org


As for Donors or Future Donors

NEW installer for donor version will be released soon you can get it at MyTether.net Donor forum. The new installer will have more Safety built in to insure the installation of My Tether will go smoothly with your version of WebOS.

• Fixes the random USB still on bug

• For now only USB/BT tethering are working Wifi fix is not released yet although a solution has been found but bugs are being worked out.

• You might still need to reboot your phone to restore its Internet after you are done tethering. If you have Luna Manager installed you can just hit Restart Java
